MORRISTOWN, NJ – With summer weather fast approaching, residents of Morristown are eager to get out and enjoy the fair weather festivals they might have missed for the past couple of years.
Meet Me in Morristown, a summer event promoting arts and culture as well as the downtown economy, will take place in Morristown on the last Thursday of every month starting May 26.
Morristown Business Sidewalk Sales will take place citywide from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., with live entertainment and performers from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at different locations each month. In May and July, performances will take place on the Morristown Green, and in June and August, they will take place on the Vail Mansion Lawn.
“This year we are back to a full four month programme, starting in May, in partnership with Morris
Arts to bring the community together around this highly anticipated event,” said Jennifer Wehring,
executive director of the Morristown Partnership.
“By combining our business and arts communities, Meet Me in Morristown promotes our downtown, encourages entrepreneurship, showcases local artists and promises a lively and fun night out for all,” Wehring added.
Meet Me in Morristown will transform downtown into a hub of art, music and entertainment, with artists and performers.
Some visual artists will exhibit and sell their work, while Morristown businesses will stay open later and hold sidewalk sales and demonstrations.
“This unique partnership of local businesses, governments, artists and arts organizations is a great example of how Morris Arts is fulfilling its mission to build community through the arts,” said Tom Werder, Director General of Morris Arts. “It’s about making art accessible to everyone.”
The summer series’ first featured band, Fish Eyed Blues, will perform on the Morristown Green on May 26th. Fish Eyed Blues covers blues/rock songs from the Stones, Creme, Hendrix, Clapton, the Wilburys, ZZ Top, the Allman Brothers, BB King and others.
