Danny Trejo, Cheech Marin and Paul Rodriguez are among the celebrities taking part in a new virtual Chicano cultural celebration.
Marin and singer Marisol “La Marisoul” Hernandez from La Santa Celilia will co-host OndaLive! Chicano Music + Culture Fest presented by AARP. The three-day fan rally will begin on October 27.
“Share ‘La Onda’ where the âChicano vibeâ of the nearly 37 million Mexican-Americans in the United States is at the heart of our programming, âsaid the CEO of IngeÃ±uity and OndaLive! Creator David Chavez said in a statement on Thursday. âWe will celebrate and showcase the pioneering talents of Chicano with inspiring content and present their historic contributions and milestones to audiences of all ages. “
Six hours of free programming includes musical tributes to Tierra, Los Lobos, Ozomatli and the late Emilio Navaira. Rodriguez will host Little Joe’s 80e birthday party. Sequences of performances by artists Tejano and Conjunto will also be presented.
The lineup includes Trejo which organizes a musical session with performances and jam sessions. Women creators will offer musical and spoken word pieces. There will be a stand-up comedy and Dia De Los Muertos parade featuring works by artist Ricardo Soltero and rock mariachi from Charros de Rock.
Viewers will also get a 15-minute preview of Cesar Chavez’s new documentary âSong for Caesar, Movement and Musicâ.
