A celebration of art and community will bring Smythesdale to life in February. Organizers of the Smythesdale Art and Music Fiesta have announced that the postponed 2020 event will take place on Sunday, February 7. âThere is a lot of talent in the region,â he said. “The local community may not know who its neighbors may be. It brings the community together in a common space.” The first Smythesdale Art and Music Fiesta first took place in 2019 and has been described as a âbeautiful eventâ. The upcoming event will feature musical artists on Village Green with a designer market, kinetic sculptures and a mural. Poetry and readings will be hosted in the historic courthouse. Works by nationally recognized artists including ceramic artist Ruby Pilven, printmaker Vida Pearson and acrylic painter Kate Wise will be on display at The Well Community Center. Ms Wise said she would also be doing a painting that day, allowing visitors to watch the process or try to participate. âIt will be really fun,â she said. âI think people are really interested in the process.â It’s ordinary for us, but a lot of people don’t see the art being made, they just see the finished product. Ms Pearson said attendance at the show was good local ‘We haven’t had a lot of opportunities in the past 12 months to show our work,’ she said. ‘People are hungry of art. Come to Smythesdale for art and fresh air. âMr Wemyss said the party was also an opportunity to introduce upcoming artists and musicians and to discover new talent.â Word is spreading and he there are people going out that I don’t know. is awesome, âhe said. Organizers of the Smythesdale Art and Music Fiesta have announced that the postponed 2020 event will be held on Sunday, February 7.
Smythesdale ceramist and event organizer Barry Wemyss said the event will feature creators of art, culture, music and poetry from Smythesdale and surrounding towns.
