It should come as no surprise that the Korean pop culture scene is doing well and thriving in the mother city. Even though K-pop, K-dramas, K-beauty and Korean culture in general have only made their way onto the Western radar in the past couple of years, more and more Capetonians have found their way to South Korea. Fun fact: Hallyu is a Chinese term that literally translates to “Korean wave”. It is transformed into a collective term that refers to the phenomenal popularity of Korean culture and pop culture – including music, series, movies and everything related to the Korean cultural economy – which has spread not only in Cape Town but to almost every corner of the globe.

So to celebrate all things Hallyu, and to shine the spotlight on the many local hidden gems of Asia and South Africa here in our mother city, K-SA will hold its third annual Asian Arts and Culture Festival next weekend, September 10 and 11, 2022.

Over 30 clothing and food vendors, a live DJ, singers, dancers, contests, free norabang (karaoke) and much more. It’s an Asian-inspired paradise for all anime lovers and K-pop fans.

The first 300 ticket purchasers will receive a specially designed gift bag filled with goodies that will make any K-pop fan jump for joy.

If you missed the goody bag target, fear not as all ticket holders will be automatically entered into a raffle that will take place at 3:30 p.m. for a chance to win some amazing prizes.
