True to its philosophy of Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam or One World Family, The Africa Chapter of The Art of Living has organized the major Cultural Festival 2022 titled Vibrant Africa-The Rising Rhythm. At the festival, internationally renowned traditional African folk musicians, singers and entertainers from all African countries came together to showcase their art forms, and millions joined as one global family to celebrate the art. , harmony, love and unity in diversity in the presence of a global spiritual master, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. Gurudev also took the participants into a deep and blissful meditation.

Dignitaries present included H. E Olusegun Obasanjo, former President of Nigeria; revered rulers of African kingdoms – HRM Ooni of Ife, HRM Oba Oni of Lekki Land, HRM Oba Onimedu of Orimedu Land, HRM Oba Dokun Thompson, Chief Abayomi Daramola Balogun of Oniru Kingdom; and Mr. Ajay from the office of the High Commission of India.

Prominent artists from the continent who attended included popular African singer and songwriter, Darey Art Alade; singer Waje; Time Dakolo, Naomi Mac, Lov’d Serenades and Nigerian actress Nancy Isime. Most notable were also the performances of cultural troupes from 6 political areas of Nigeria performed during the festival; Classical Indian dance with the 3 forms Kathak, Bharatnatyam and Kuchipudi; Yoga danced by young people from the Art of Living district.

Gurudev makes a first visit to 4 African countries Ghana, Nigeria, Uganda and Tanzania. Gurudev and his impassioned call to create a happy, violence-free and stress-free society to heal humanity after a devastating pandemic, has been met with an overwhelmingly positive response from leaders from all walks of life, including academicians, kings and leaders of various realms, companies and industry leaders, performers, artists and influencers.

During his first visit to Ghana, Gurudev was warmly welcomed by President HE Nana Akufo-Addo, who expressed his support for the Art of Living initiatives in Africa and hosted The Art of Living to launch programs in the fields of ayurveda, agriculture, youth training and prison. programs, with the aim of improving the mental health and well-being of the people of the country. Gurudev was invited to address and lead a meditation for diplomats and government officials at the Indian High Commission in Ghana. He also met with the respectable leaders of indigenous communities and encouraged the international community to appreciate and learn from the enormous efforts made by these leaders to honor and keep their traditions alive.

Gurudev also called on the government of Ghana to establish happiness centers across the country to help people overcome stress and spread positivity. Speaking at an event titled Happiness 3.0, Gurudev said, “Creating a happy society depends not only on creating the right conditions, but also on creating the right institutions to discover those conditions.” Gurudev inaugurated the Academic City University College in Accra with Vice President of Ghana HE Mahamudu Bawumia To enable students to manage their minds and emotions alongside studies, Art of Living workshops will be part of induction programs at University.

Over the course of two days, Gurudev also interacted with influential figures from Africa, including actress Naa Ashorkar, who interviewed Gurudev on topics as varied as love, happiness and world peace. At a time when the global pandemic has left behind an epidemic of poor mental health and financial setbacks, organizations seek to rebuild the emotional resilience of employees to enable them to cope with uncertainty and disruption, Gurudev led a CEO roundtable titled “How to Survive, Thrive and Succeed in this Post-Pandemic Era” attended by key Nigerian business stakeholders. Gurudev in his interaction with The Catalyst, Dr. Lanre Olusola discussed several issues such as organizational growth, community development, human capacity building, mindset change and emotional resilience development in Nigeria.
