PESHAWAR: A colorful two-day Orakzai Sports and Culture Festival has come to an end amid fun and exciting events at Kalaya in the Orakzai Tribal District.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA), Sports Department, District Administration and Orakzai Scouts jointly organized the festival.
Member of the Provincial Assembly, Ghazi Ghazan Jamal and Commander Orakzai Scouts Roy Kashif Amin were the main guests of the closing ceremony.
Besides a large number of alumni, spectators, players, Deputy Commissioner Asif Rahim, KPCTA Director Yousaf Ali, Merged Districts Tourism Project Manager Ishtiaq Khan, Information and culture Humayun Khan and others were also present on the occasion.
Apart from traditional games and music, the festival also featured volleyball, kabbadi, gymnastics, archery, paragliding, tug of war competitions and other colorful activities.
Shahid Khan Shinwari, musical artist and rabab mestro Irfan Khan and Shahid Malang respectively entertained the audience with parodies and melodious vocals.
In volleyball matches, Ferozkhel Zalmai clinched first position while Manikhel Tigers placed second. Similarly, Orakzai Tigers and Orakzai Defenders respectively took the first and second position in the kabbadi competitions.
In archery competitions, Kalaya Bazaar Group-I placed first while Kalaya Bazaar Group-II clinched second position.
Stalls of traditional foods, handicrafts, fine arts, installation of hujra, traditional rabab music and others were also part of the sports and cultural gala.
Speaking on the occasion, Ghazi Golab Jamal, Ishtiaq Khan and DC Asif Rahim said the event aims to promote tourism and sports activities and attract tourists to the scenic spots of the merged districts.
They said more tourism, sports and cultural programs and festivals would be held in all the amalgamated tribal districts.
The officials hailed the spirit of young people manifested in sports activities and traditional cultural games.
