Male-centric publisher Complex is expanding into live events with the launch of ComplexCon, a two-day festival focused on pop culture, art, music, style and sports.

“I’m inspired by the myriad of different events I’ve had the good fortune to attend, whether they’re focused on art, design, music, food, or science,” Williams said. “When I connected OTHER with Marc Ecko and the Complex team, we were instantly aligned – we wanted to combine a bit of all of these elements and create a unique new initiative.”
Complexwhich started as a magazine focused on the skateboarding community before becoming a digital publisher focused on millennial men, was acquired last month by Verizon and Hearst, who now jointly own the company.

The festival will represent a physical manifestation of the topics covered by Complex and will feature concerts, shopping, panels, art and food, among other experiences. New York Comic-Con producer ReedPop will work with Complex to organize the event, and contemporary artist Takashi Murakami has joined the host committee alongside Williams.
Ecko tells The Hollywood Reporter that the event took several years to prepare. “All of our programming lit up what made sense,” he says, adding that he sees it as a mix of Art Basel and Bonnaroo.
