Artistic and cultural flavors are among the offerings of Xuhui District at this year’s annual Shanghai Tourism Festival.
The Fuxing Art Festival has started in the Hengfu Historical and Cultural Area (Hengshan-Fuxing Road) and will continue until October 7.
With themes of music and floating architecture, it offers street jazz music, music-themed walking tours, and excursions in search of the Fuxing Cat, the sculptural mascot of the Fuxing Art Festival. People are also welcome to paint the cat to add color.

Visitors can enjoy enchanting arboreal views in the region amid classical architecture and jazz music during the festival.
The Hengfu district features a cluster of beautiful old villas, tree-lined sidewalks, chic cafes and restaurants, and a tranquil and relaxed atmosphere.
A traditional Chinese opera and culture festival will begin on September 24 and last for one month. This celebration will take place on the waterfront along the Huangpu River in Xuhui District.
Traditional Chinese operas such as Beijing, Yueju, Huju and Pingtan (storytelling and music in Suzhou dialect) will be performed.

Pathe Villa – where the Chinese national anthem âMarch of the Volunteersâ was recorded, will host a national anthem exhibition from the end of September.
Built in 1921, the Red Villa inside Xujiahui Park was once home to the Pathe Records studio and was the birthplace of China’s record industry.
Different versions of the Chinese national anthem will be presented and the stories behind it will be shared at the exhibition.
Night tours and 10 exhibits on the West Bund waterfront along the Huangpu River in Xuhui are scheduled during the fall cultural and tourist season.
A brochure guiding visitors to the Normandie Apartments district is available, encouraging people to explore 78 nearby destinations and learn about the historic quarter’s past.
